PROFESSIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

EDUCATIONAL ADVOCACY 

  • Advocated for Universal Full-Day Kindergarten, which was implemented in Fall 2018, ahead of strategic goal. 

  • Advocated for the creation of and served as chair of the Special Education Ad- Hoc, where the committee helped to create and revise policies related to Special Education and made a comprehensive list of recommendations of improvements related to communication and consistency of application of services. 

  • Spearheaded the creation of a standing committee for Communications and Outreach

EQUITY IN EDUCATION

  • Served as Chairperson and commissioner of the Loudoun County Commission on Youth which advocates for youth programs, with a special focus on programs for underserved communities and underrepresented groups.  

  • Served on the Loudoun County School’s Equity and Diversity Ad-Hoc Committee, where we worked to address issues of inequity and cultural and racial biases within the school system.

  • Loudoun County Commission on Youth - 2012-2016

    • Appointed by Janet Clarke, Blue Ridge Representative on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

    • Served as a commissioner 2012 until elected by follow commissioners as chairperson​ from 2012-2016

  • Loudoun County School Board​ - January 2016 - December 2019

    • Elected by Loudoun County Voters for 4 year term​

    • Elected and served as At-Large (County-Wide) Representative

  • Loudoun Community Press/Loudon County Magazine​ - 2020 - Present

    • Serves as board member ​

    • Helps create instructional content for the program

    • Facilitates educational sessions and guest lectures when requested.

    • Assists with reviewing and editing magazine content and helps with article ideas.
